Calder Angling Association

The River Calder offers challenging fishing throughout the season. Runs of migratory fish are associated with spate conditions after heavy rain with some influence from the tides they say….

Wild Brown Trout
fishing is available throughout the season regardless of water levels.

Sea Trout can run as early as May depending on weather and water conditions.

Salmon* tend to be later in the summer, the first usually being seen in August and fish right up until the end of the season, October 31.*EA currently order Catch and Release for Salmon.

Calder Angling Association (CAA) holds the majority of fishing rights along the River Calder. This is available to members and visitors who hold an Environment Agency Rod License.

In addition to national regulations CAA has some local rules which apply to all members and visitors (issued with permit along with a map of permissible fishing areas)
